Wigwamming (not a made up word).

Standard

Have you ever heard of a Wig  Wam?? I hadn’t but my wacky mummy found these strange looking log cabins in the shape of tents near the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. She decided it was time we had a little weekend vay-cay with my little Actonites and their families to try out the Wig Wam things.  Our little west side crew love a fun weekend away and this one tops the list to date.

On Friday night we drove a couple hours through two different countries (England & Wales) and a lot of traffic to find a large quarry full of these wig wams. When we first got there it was already dark and late so we couldn’t really see where mummy had driven us…  it was exciting though.

On the drive mummy and daddy told us stories of their camping adventures as youngsters – which must have been a long time ago as they had to stay in things called tents and bath in freezing cold rivers!! Thankfully these days we have heated wig wams and shower blocks!!

We fuelled our adventure weekend with a full english big brekky, then the mummy’s and daddy’s went on a high zip wire over a very large quarry. This quarry is part of the National Diving centre and people practise deep water diving.  Look how high they flew in the air!!

That is mummy and her friend Nic (Freya and Seb’s mummy).

After the zip wire we went for a drive deep in the Forest of Dean and found  some bikes to hire. There was a 10 mile track that we followed. Daddy got the raw end of the deal and had to pull us along in a trailor.  Ophelia missed half of it as she slept but I thought it was fantastic. The Forest is really pretty. I loved it when Daddy went really fast down the hills and sometimes took us off-road on some bumpy trails.

It was a big day and we were all exhausted!! We had a little bbq and toasted some marshmallows over the fire then went straight to sleep to rest for another action packed day!

With another adventure planned for Sunday,  the Actonites conveyed our way to an enchanted woodland called Puzzlewood.  This little woodland was supposedly inspiration for an author called JR Tolkien who wrote something about Hobbits and rings. It was a very magical woodland with lots of different paths, caves, heaps of moss and mushrooms and fairies. I saw loads of them, I think Tinker bell lives at Puzzlewood.  It as a very magical way to finish our weekend.

After saying our goodbyes to the Fairies and each other we headed back to London. It was a quick drive home as O and I slept most of the way.

To top the weekend off Australia beat Scotland in the Rugby world Cup – Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

I can’t wait for our next adventure – where to next, mummy??

About Harlow London Stanley

With a lot of help from my mummy, I am writing this blog to help my friends and family stay in touch with me when we move to London in a few weeks. I am going to miss everyone and I am not very good at writing emails and I can't talk yet, so skype can be difficult. So we thought this would be the most fun way for everyone to see what I am up to. At the moment I am almost 6 months old so there are few big milestones ahead of me, teeth, crawling, walking and talking are just a few that I hope to master this year. All of my family will be home in Australia and will miss these amazing moments, so I promise to post them with pictures, videos and little diary entries as soon as they happen.
